FEAR OF FLYING
//INTRODUCTION
Kicking of his 10th year of producing, Big Bud comes with his fourth and without doubt, strongest album to date. Released on the label he now runs alongside partner DJ. Element, SoundTrax Records are proud to present Fear Of Flying.
The veteran producer took a 2 year breakfrom releasing. He spent this time writing music and conquering his fear of flying by traveling the world DJing and working with different musicians he met along the way. Armed with a laptop and a microphone he recorded with musicians, singers and MC's from Europe, Africa and the Caribbean.
//FEAR OF FLYING CD 1
CD 1 is a 12 track mix of D'n'B with 8 brand new cuts. This album sees Big Bud drawing on all his influences to produce his best and most varied work so far. From the tech beats of Red Snapper thru the deep & dubby Rice'n'Beans and the Latin vibes of Dirty Mr Kurti to the R'n'B vocals of Inside Information, a Big Bud remix of a track by the garage producer, Artful Dodger and featuring Lifford on vocal duties.
Dubwise vibes run thru this CD with the first of several appearances by G Rhymes on the D'n'B/lovers rock style Fuzzy. It continues on Children Of Jah, which is due for release as an album sampler 12 early next year alongside Soul Something...Miracle and Mihi are both liquid funk, vocal rollers whilst Buapest and SoundTrax go much deeper driving the album thru it's varying moods.
//FEAR OF FLYING CD 2
A month spent recording in Belize as left a strong influence on the whole project and CD.2 features performances from many of the artistes he met there. Some serious talent lend their vocal skills to 6 of the tracks on the album. G Rhymes lays down lyrics on How I Make My G's while fellow Belizian Dan Marcus tells how life is in the ghetto on Fan The Flame. He shows his versatility with a completely different vocal style on Just Can't Hold Me Down. Conscious lyrics from this exceptional talent that Big Bud heard on Belize radio and tracked down. Local hero Hooligan MC rides the riddim on Super8Skank, old skool studio one style.
The raw, tribal vocals of legendary 50 year old musician Lugua Centeno feature on the track Gimme De Woman alongside drums recorded live in Sri Lanka. Sung in a traditional African language of Garifuna it's the most global and truly spiritual moment on the album. Big Bud covers a lot of ground over the two CDs with D'n'B, Reggae, Hip Hop, Jazz and Ambient styles being represented. Hungarian producers Membran take remix duties on the track Catch 22, turning a D'n'B track into a beautiful down-tempo groove with all live instruments and the sweet vocals of African vocalist Mwenga. The live, smoking jazz jam that is Stinkweed features a fantastic flute and trombone solofrom ageing hippie/jazz head Sandy Orba, another regular visitor to Bubland...The journey ends with the cinematic, haunting, written for a movie that's not yet been made, Impressions...21st century classical music?
